I See Dead People…

I see them every single day and not just one, but many, several, a lot. They stand in line at coffee shops, they run errands, they work… They’re breathing, but they’re not really alive.

I don’t mean physically dead, but characteristically. There are dead people everywhere.

Look around you, I bet you can see them too. The people who are hurting, lost, confused and miserable. The stranger who never seems to smile and the neighbor who never says hello. They’re there.

Are you one of them?

It’s so easy for our spirits to die and souls to rot long before our bodies take their last breath. It’s something we have to fight to avoid.

My challenge to myself and to each of you is to stay alive. Block out the negative committee that meets in your head and fill your soul with God, family, good friends, and endless dreams.

No one can do that for you but yourself. It’s your place in the world; it’s your life. Go on and do all you can with it, and make it the life you want to live.

Don’t die long before you leave this Earth.

A 22-year-old Ballerina?

I’ve always promised myself I wouldn’t be one of those people who lived a life of “what-ifs”. That promise is easy to make and hard to follow through with, especially the older I get.

I am all about chasing your dreams, shooting for the stars, trying new things.. you know all that cliché stuff we always say and never follow-up with (I’m not pointing fingers, I’m guilty too).

I’ve been trying to make an honest effort to be someone who practices what they preach and so, most recently I took on the challenge of trying something I have always wanted to do since high school: ballet.

First of all, I completely skipped out on the first day of class. I made an excuse ’cause I’m a pansy, duh. Even with my boyfriend pushing, I stubbornly put the first week of class off.

Second week rolls around and I convinced myself to give it a shot. Okay, fine, my boyfriend made me go. So, I put on some shorts, a tshirt, and made myself head to the dance studio. I didn’t have ballet shoes, tights, or anything. I thought for sure I was going to get kicked out!

I walked into the dance studio to see little girls in tutus, tights, and cute little ballet shoes. I sat on the bench and watched middle school and high school girls prance around confidently in their little outfits as I began to wish I wore a larger t-shirt.

And then, it was my turn to dance. I went into the studio with three other girls around my age and met my instructor, John. I started out so nervous. John came over to me at one point and said breathe. I ended up laughing at myself. Why was I so nervous? At that moment I began to relax and I realized the other girls in the class weren’t taking themselves seriously at all. My first class ended with movement across the floor and a room full of laughter. I walked away from the dance floor, but wanted to stay and play longer. My instructor was hilarious and so were my new dance friends!

I am in my sixth week of classes and I am hooked! I have made awesome new friends and am rather proud of myself.

I guess my point is you’re never too old to try something new. Don’t miss out! Life is too unpredictable to keep putting off your bucket list. Act now.

A 2013 Prince Charming

Screen Shot 2013-09-16 at 4.27.23 PM

I’ve wanted to write this post for so long, you know, about the love of my life or whatever. I was just busy foolishly waiting on a handsome prince to knock on my door with my glass slipper. I was going to get the perfect moment because everyone else was doing the love thing wrong and I deserved the perfect man, duh….

While I stood impatiently expecting him to show up, I almost missed him. He didn’t come in on a white horse but he did drive a white mini cooper (Eh, close enough). And he definitely didn’t hold out a dazzling glass slipper.. it was more like he showed up with what I really wanted to wear — my favorite pair of worn in converses. It’s like he knew me better than myself..

For the past five years, he’s been my modern prince charming, even at moments when I didn’t realize it.

As little girls, we get jaded ideas about what love is suppose to be like/feel like. Well, hold on tight to your magic carpet ladies! I’m going to try my best to tell you what it’s really like being in love in 2013.

You see, my boyfriend doesn’t wake me up out of a deep sleep with flowers and a kiss, but he does tell me with both eyes shut –still in bed — that I look pretty as I leave for work.

He doesn’t slay dragons to win my love, but he does kill spiders in the house (same difference).

He doesn’t sweep me off my feet daily, but he does sweep under them on Saturday’s when we clean.

He didn’t scoop me up on his horse and carry us to our castle in the sky, but he did pick me up in a car and help me move 300 miles to start a life with him in Ann Arbor.

He doesn’t dance with me every evening across a grand ballroom, but he does put up with my unnecessary twerking to Beyonce in our living room.

He doesn’t know how to fix everything with a magic wand, but he does make sincere attempts to try be my mister fixit.

He didn’t fall in love with me because of a majestic singing voice, but he does sing off key with me quite frequently.

He didn’t hand me a magic lamp with three wishes, but he does try to make my wants a reality.

He didn’t fight some man for my love, but he did stick around when I was unsure if he was the one..

He didn’t climb my hair to save me from a tower, but he does tolerate it when I decide to chop off all my locks.

Among all this, he meets me at the door when I get home from work and my hands are full, unclogs the toilet for me (yeah, embarrassing), greets me after a long day with a kiss, takes time to go shopping with me, manages to stay calm when I can’t, does laundry when I’m too busy, picks up a random treat, and most importantly he supports my dreams and life goals…

BUT, it isn’t all rainbows and cupcakes either. We fight, we compromise, and we make it work. It’s taken us forever (5 years to be exact) to finally get this “right”.

You see ladies, he isn’t going to be perfect and that’s okay, because you sure as hell aren’t either. I liked to pretend I would be the perfect high-heel wearing, 5-star cooking, dress wearing girlfriend. Realistically, I’m more like the girl who can’t stand heels for more than five minutes, burns every meal that isn’t premade and found the freezer, and would much rather be make-upless and pantless. It’s so important to not try and dream-up these ideas of what you will/should be like. It will leave you longing for something you’ll never have and chasing all the wrong men.

I’ve accepted my oddball qualities and found a modern day prince who accepts them too and loves me for it ontop of it all.

He is out there… you just have to put your “ideas” of what it’s suppose to be like, aside and let God write your love story.

Follow those hearts, girls!

PS I love you Jaron! Thank you for everything!

Fashion on a Budget

I in no way consider myself a fashion blogger, BUT I do consider myself a bargain shopper. I love to keep my wardrobe versatile and I’ve been working on adding more color — yes even for those winter months! I love trying new styles, mixing and matching, you know — all that girly stuff.

Throughout my time of becoming an online shopper, I have acquired a long list of shopping hot spots on the internet and as time has gone on, I’ve realized there’s really no solid list out there of awesome shopping sites! Plus, it feels so wrong not to share my shopping secrets with y’all.

Below you will find both daily deal websites (my personal fav) and online stores and boutiques that should be on your radar. Click the image to be redirected to the site. Enjoy!

Daily Deal Sites:

Sassy Steals was my first discovery of daily deal online boutiques and has been an ongoing favorite! They always have the cutest statement jewelry for super cheap!
Jane is another personal fav. They always have the cutest home decor, necklaces, and baby goodies! It’s a great site to follow for all those momma’s out there!
autumn diff fonts multi color
Pinke Promise never fails to surprise me with adorable goodies. From fall wall art to adorable gift bags. It’s a site full of artsy goodies you can’t typically get your hands on!
Three Bird Nest has a the cutest accessories and typically you find new items on sale weekly.
Okay seriously, though… What doesn’t Groopdealz have on their site? This is probably my top online boutique site. You can find home decor, designer inspired apparel and jewelry, nail decals, and adorable baby accessory and clothing all in one spot. It’s a daily must visit for sure!
Rose Necklace
Simple Addiction is a great site for designer inspired jewelry. Each of their pieces are adorbs!
I found South Boutique on Instagram and that’s often how I keep up with their new products. I absolutely adore South’s products… from bags, apparel, accessories, to gift ideas.. South has it all. You can even catch ESPN U Roadtrip Celebrity Niki Noto rocking their stuff!
Although you may pay a little more for jewelry at Viva La Jewels you most certainly can’t find these gems anywhere else! Their jewelry is adorable and unique!
Urban Peach is another great site for jewelry needs! It is a site I visit frequently!
Impressions is what I like to call my dress go to site. They ALWAYS have the cutest dresses for every occasion. Not too mention, they have adorable tops, bottoms, and shoes too!
You can say wedges are a little in this year. Red Dress Boutique has so many cute fall wedges. Not too mention, they have an adorable selection of apparel too!
Sosie is adorable! They have fantastic everything, but I am particularly a fan of their accessories!

The Rage is another great dress spot online!
Bocaleche always has me ready to embrace my inner hippie! Their clothes are super cute and comfy!
Evie J is another awesome site for jewelry! Super adorbs and simplistic!
Spool 72 isn’t much a of an online secret anymore, but just incase anyone hasn’t checked them out, they should! I love the vintage look of their apparel!
If I had to pick a favorite online boutique, I’d have to say mine is Hopes. I recently just ordered a dress from them and got it within three days of purchase with no extra shipping cost! Plus, the dress fit perfect! I can’t wait to wear it.
I love Stelly! Their dresses and apparel are so adorable and unique! Plus, their prices are great!

I hope these sites treat y’all as well as they have me! Did I forget any? Share with me your favorite online stores/boutiques and I will add them here!

PS. All I do not own any images. All were pulled directly from the websites linked to the image.

September in 3 1/2 Minutes

It’s so amateur, but it was fun for me to make. Here’s a look at September 2013 for me in 3 1/2 minutes.
